The Impact!
One of our next locations has 100 older adults — that’s a huge amount of people gaining health benefits on a daily basis! $500 gets 1 raised bed at a senior facility, but the ideal is 2 to 4 raised beds at each facility. That way it produces more organic food, more room to socialize, and more of an opportunity for everyone to get their hands in the soil! Why is that important? The studies are countless! It reduces the risk of dementia, reduces heart disease, increases Vitamin D exposure & thus calcium absorption (critical), it removes older adults from isolation, and provides well-needed exercise! Success Story!
As mentioned in the video, God made a surefooted pathway to the local Food Bank (just like Psalm 18:33 – where the 18 comes from in our name!) The Food Bank asked us to make a flyer so they could send to ALL their senior facilities! They said it’s very rare that they ever have fresh food to take over — just another reason why The Food Bank supports us so much! Here’s the latest version of the flyer! Results: Instant yes’s! The Raised Beds We Use
We have options for outdoors & indoors (when it’s too cold for them outside). For the wooden beds, we’re getting ready to custom build them (to save money) + make them better for wheelchairs (ADA complaint) + have a top with screened doors to keep birds, animals, and pests out!
Allocating the Funds
For the fundraising campaign, we’re dedicating a minimum of $100,000 to the wooden raised beds! That provides 100 facilities with TWO raised beds per location! We also need a place to build the raised beds (it’s much cheaper than ordering them). The monthly rent is expected to be $2,500. So please consider joining us to obtain our goals!
